How It Works:

The i-Mercedes-D2B connects directly to the pre-wired CD Changer. Because it directly connects, it is able to stream HD quality audio from your iPod into your radio similar to how a CD Changer works. By connecting directly to the radio, the i-Mercedes-D2B is able to provide the digital quality music from your iPod that you are looking for. Absolutely NO FM transmission ever again for you and your car.

The i-Mercedes-D2B offers control of the iPod from the radio and steering wheel buttons. You will be able to change tracks, playlists, albums, and chapters from the same buttons you currently change CD tracks and discs with. At the same time, you will also have full control from the iPod itself to your entire music and video collection. No need to worry, your iPod screen and click wheel will NEVER be disabled. You can access 100% of your iPod. The i-Mercedes-D2B also comes with an additional aux input for connecting any device with a headphone jack like Sat Radio, Mp3 player, etc. It is easily accessed from a button on the radio.

The i-Mercedes-D2B offers power to and charging of your iPod while connected. So any trip, long or short you battery will never run out. When you change sources or turn off your car, your iPod will auto pause and shut off. When you get out of your car, your battery is fully charged and ready to go.

How It Installs:

The i-Mercedes-D2B comes with three parts: 1) the vehicle cable, 2) the i-Mercedes-D2B control module and 3) the iPod cable. The i-Mercedes-D2B takes a certain level of skill to perform the install and isn't the average do-it-yourself kit. It is possible to be installed by the Do-It-Yourselfer type who is familiar with fiber optics but we highly recommend that you have a professional do it. You can take it to a local installer, dealership, etc. Our best recomendation is to have a local shop that works on Mercedes, Porsche, etc... Vehicles with Fiber Optic Audio systems, perform the install as they will be more than qualified. The iPod is accessed on the radio by pressing the CD or SAT button on the radio. i-Mercedes-D2B comes with everything needed to connect this to your car; there is NOTHING extra to buy.

Technical Notes:

• If you have an External CD-Changer (usually found in trunk, glove box or center console) it must be disconnected.
• Radios:
  • This adapter does NOT work on the Audio 20 & 50 Radios. (see below for an example).
  • This adapter DOES work on all the other radio models.
  • Not sure what radio you have? It should say on it. Another easy way to confirm compatibility - If you have an External CD Changer, this kit IS compatible.
• Nav/GPS Radios:
  • This adapter DOES work on the COMAND 2.0 & 2.5 Nav Radios.
• This adapter does NOT work on the COMAND 3 w/DVD (16:9 widescreen w/ soft buttons) Nav Radio.
