How It Works:

The i-BMW-T Silverline & DSP Add-On connects directly into the prewired cd changer cable in your car. Because it directly connects, it is able to stream HD quality audio from your iPod into your radio similar to how a CD Changer works. By connecting directly to the radio, the i-BMW-T Silverline & DSP Add-On is able to provide the digital quality music from your iPod that you are looking for. Absolutely NO FM transmission ever again for you and your car.

The i-BMW-T Silverline & DSP Add-On offers control of the iPod from the radio and steering wheel buttons. You will be able to change tracks, playlists, albums, and artists from the same buttons you currently change CD tracks and discs with. Unlike the original i-BMW-T, you do not have full control from the iPod itself to your entire music and video collection. With the new browsing features added by DICE, Apple has required that the iPod be locked out. No worries though, the adapter does have a "simple mode" that allows for the iPod to be unlocked - full control ON the iPod. You will also have track control but you do NOT get the advanced features like text, browsing and folder access. The i-BMW-T Silverline & DSP Add-On also comes with an additional aux input for connecting any device with a headphone jack like Sat Radio, Mp3 player, etc. It is easily accessed from a button on the radio.

Simply locate the prewired CD Changer cable in the car, plug in the vehicle cable, connect the module and then the iPod cable. Route the iPod cable to your desired location and you’re done. The iPod is accessed on the radio by pressing the CD or SAT button on the radio. The models above were equipped standard or as an option with what is called Digital Sound Processing (DSP). DSP is a coaxial input from the BMW CD Changer into the factory amplifier. BMW may refer to this as "premium sound". There will be a button or a menu option that you can choose called DSP. It allows you to choose different sound settings like Church, Jazz Club, Concert, etc.

If you have DSP and your car is from 2002 and before, you 100% need this kit.

If your car is a late 2002 and up please keep reading:

In late 2002, BMW began to change from the digital coax input and went back to using their standard 6-pin plug found on every NON-DSP vehicle. This type of DSP is called "analog DSP". If you have "analog DSP" you do NOT need the DSP kit and can use the i-BMW-T. If you are unsure, we recommend you purchase the i-BMW-T and then if you need DSP, come back and purchase it later.

Vehicles made after "MY2002" will need to check their connections to see what type of DSP they have. If the BMW has a CD Changer, check the connections, if its a 3 & 6 pin with NO coax, you don't need this kit. If there is no CD Changer, you need to find the factory amplifier and check for a coaxial wire or plug.

Technical Notes:

• If you have an External CD-Changer (usually found in trunk, glove box or center console) it must be disconnected.
• In-Dash CD Changer is not affected or disabled. It will function as normal.
• Factory GPS/Navigation radio IS compatible.
• Text is supported on all CD/iPod text capable radios.
• If equipped with factory SAT radio (subscribed to), you need the Dice BMW Sirius Cable
• 7-Series - 1998: must've been made Sept/98 and up.
