STEP 1: Make Sure Your Vehicle is Selected Above

• The FRD03-POD/S(5v) is compatible if your vehicle has been selected above.
  
• If it still says "Select Make, Model, Year", then you MUST enter your vehicle details and hit "Find Products" to confirm this product IS compatible.

STEP 2: Review the technical notes

 Technical Notes:

• Radio MUST have a SAT button. If it doesnt have a SAT button, it will not work.
  • Non-Nav Radio will have a button with "SAT" on it. NON-Touch Screen NAV will have a hard button with "SAT" on it. Touch Screen NAV with have a soft, pressable button that will appear once this is connected. So on Touch Screen NAV Radios, you must verify first if your radio is SAT ready/capable.
  • If you do NOT have a SAT button, email us at thepros@ipodcarpros.com & include your Mk/Model/Yr. Its a pretty good chance we have an adapter for you.
• Text is supported on all radio's
• In-Dash CD Changer is not affected or disabled.
• Compatible with Navigation and Non-Navigation radio.
  • Not compatible with Touch Screen Navigation radio, BUT we may still have something, see below
    
  • "TS Nav" radio with external Changer in center console can use X3FRDW-POD
• "TS Nav" radio with Rear DVD, please see that section below.
• "TS Nav" by itself, w/o Rear DVD, SAT, Etc. can use FRD03-POD/A
• 2003-06 Expedition with NAV radio and external changer MUST use X3FRDW-POD
• If you have an External CD-Changer (usually found in trunk, glove box or center console) it MUST be disconnected.

• Rear Seat Entertainment/DVD MUST be disconnected.

• Important Product note - No matter what, if you have an SAT button, our kit will work.
• Please note, Ford offered 2 identical looking radio's BUT with different plugs on the back. One radio has a 24-pin plug, the other a 20-pin plug. From our experience, 95% of the radio's have the 24-pin & work with this kit, the "FRD03". The other 5% of the radio's have the 20-pin and need a different radio harness.
• What you can do: Odds are overwhelming that this kit works with your radio, so we recommend that you get this & if we find that you need the other harness, we will get it to you at cost (about $10). OR you can remove the radio first and see for yourself - You shouldn't waste time doing this unless you really want to as you are only saving $10.

If you meet all the criteria in Step 1 & 2, the FRD03-POD/S(5v) is 100% compatible with your vehicle. If you don't see something covered about your system, it's not relevant to this kit and wouldn't be affected in anyway.

Do you have an iPod Touch or iPhone? If you have either the Touch or the iPhone - ANY Generation - you will need to purchase our other adapter. Please see our FRD03-POD/A adapter that will work with your device.

The FRD03-POD/S(5v) will work with ALL of the above devices (not including the Touch & iPhone). Other website will tell you in the fine print that you need an extra converter, that is because they are selling an OLDER version. This kit is the newest (5v) version - nothing else is needed for it to work with ALL the devices above.

The FRD03-POD/S(5v) iPod adapter from PIE directly connects your iPod to your factory radio. The FRD03-POD/S(5v) is specifically designed for your vehicle. It retains the factory look, its plug and play. No unsightly cables. The FRD03-POD/S(5v) is Non-permanent, completely reversible. Can be removed at any time.

How It Works:

Sound Quality: The FRD03-POD/S(5v) connects directly into an available port on the back of your radio. Because it directly connects, it is able to stream HD quality audio from your iPod into your radio similar to how a CD Changer works. Never use another Cassette or FM transmitter again! These can't compare to the quality of a direct connect adapter.

Control On Radio: The FRD03-POD/S(5v) offers control of the iPod from the radio and steering wheel buttons. You will be able to change tracks up and down and browse our iPod from the same buttons you currently change CD tracks and discs with. You will be able to access Albums, Artists, Composers, Genres & Playlists.

Control On iPod: You will also have full control on the iPod/iPhone itself to your entire music and video collection at the press of a radio button. No need to worry, your iPod screen and click wheel are not permanently disabled. On iPhone/Touch you have complete access to Apps like Pandora, Sirius/XM or any streaming music program. It will play just like your iPod music (no radio control). You have access to 100% of your iPod/iPhone.

Text Display : The FRD03-POD/S(5v) displays text, offering even more integration! You will see the current song Artist & Title right on your radio display. No more blindly skipping through songs. When that song come up that you haven't heard in awhile, you can easily remind yourself who it is, just by glancing at your radio's display.

Charging: The FRD03-POD/S(5v) offers power to and charging of your iPod while connected. So any trip, long or short you battery will never run out. When you change sources or turn off your car, your iPod will auto pause and shut off. When you get out of your car, your battery is fully charged and ready to go.

Phone Calls: The FRD03-POD/S(5v) is an AUDIO adapter. Per Apple's design, the FRD03-POD/S(5v) will not interact with phone calls. Apple doesn't allow audio kits to also hear a person's voice through your speakers. When a phone call comes in, it will behave like it does now, the music will pause and it will switch over to the phone call. You will need to use an earpiece, handsfree car system, bluetooth, etc. They will work the same as they do now, no change.

How It Installs:

Installation: The FRD03-POD/S(5v) is an easy install for the average Do-It-Yourselfer. It's 100% plug and play, NO cutting or splicing any wires! Simply remove the radio, plug in the vehicle cable, connect the module and then the iPod cable. Route the iPod cable to your desired location and you’re done. Who installs it?

• The Do-It-Yourselfer type or ANY local installer (Best Buy, Local Chain, Mom&Pop, etc).
• Are you sure that any installer can do it?
• YES! The installers basic training, qualifies them! The main part is to remove the radio, and they do that all day long.
• But I didn't buy it from them, will they still install it?
• YES! The majority of ipod adapters are ONLY sold online. The installers are happy to make money doing the install.
